Seacrest Beach, Florida, is Home Away From Home for Bridlewood Resident Alison Bowdouris’ Family
When Bridlewood resident Alison Bowdouris and her family travel to the beach each year, it’s much more than a vacation—it’s a home away from home.
Alison and her husband, Scott, purchased a home in Seacrest Beach, Florida, in September 2016. Since that time, they and their children, Zachary and Sarah, have enjoyed multiple trips to the beach.
Their Seacrest home, Beach Thyme, is nestled between Panama City and Destin, along the ever-popular 30-A in South Walton.
The family decided to purchase their vacation home after spending time in Seacrest and falling in love with the area.
“We had stayed in Seacrest in 2016, and we liked it. It was very family-oriented. It’s also very accessible to anything you want to do,” Alison says. “We go about three times a year and rent it out the rest of the time.”
Beach Thyme is offered for lease by 30A Escapes and can be viewed at 30AEscapes.com.
Alison says offering their beach home as a vacation rental was the most economical option for their family.
“It was an affordable way to have a beach house,” she says.
The family visits Beach Thyme in the spring, summer and during Thanksgiving.
The five-bedroom, 5 1/2-bathroom home accommodates as many as 13 guests, so the Bowdouris family often invites extended family and friends to vacation with them.
“We just enjoy our family and friends while we are there. It’s a great house for multiple families and multiple generations,” she says, adding that her family and their guests enjoy spending time exploring the area and savoring the slower pace.
“We swim at the resort-style pool in the neighborhood. The house has five bikes so we bike to lunch, dinner and the beach. Or we can take a tram from the neighborhood to the beach,” she says. “We eat out or cook in, and we play cards.
“It’s definitely our family’s place to escape. Simply put: “It’s been good for family time.”
Hit the town
The Bowdouris family enjoys biking to the family-friendly shops and restaurants along 30 A. “The kids like to bike to the Sugar Shack in Rosemary Beach and to get donuts at their favorite donut spots: the Donut Hole in Inlet Beach and Charlie’s Donut Truck in Alys Beach.”
Places to dine
Beach Thyme was newly constructed and unfurnished when the Bowdouris family purchased it, so Alison turned to friend and fellow Bridlewood resident Tina Barrette, owner of Décor Muse. For more information on Décor Muse, visit Facebook.com/DecorMuse.Tina.
