Flower Mound’s Twin Coves Park Offers Something for Everyone
Local adventurers looking to escape from it all and get back to nature need not look farther than their own backyard.
Flower Mound’s Twin Coves Park, nestled along the shore of Grapevine Lake, offers 243 acres of outdoor fun, including a fishing pier, boat ramp, playground, pavilions, four-hole disc golf course, scenic overlook with fire pit, grass volleyball court, picnic areas, and hiking and biking trails.
For the glamping enthusiasts, Twin Coves is home to 19 furnished cabins overlooking the lake and filled with modern amenities, including a well-equipped kitchen, living area, bedroom and bathroom. Cabins rates begin at $115 per night, depending on the season. Each cabin sleeps as many as six people.
Those wishing to commune more with nature can bring their own tents and enjoy primitive camping sites for $20 per night. RV site rentals also are available.
And for those who simply wish to get away for the day, Twin Coves offers the popular natural-surface 22.5-mile Northshore Trail and 13.1-mile Knob Hill Trail along the lake’s shore. The nationally registered hiking and mountain biking trails are managed by the Army Corps of Engineers. Visitors also may enjoy the scenery of the lake’s north shore on horseback along approximately 9 miles of equestrian trails.
Twin Coves Park, 5001 Wichita Trail in Flower Mound, is open daily 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. A $10 daily usage fee per vehicle is required to enter Twin Coves. Annual passes are available for $45 for residents or $75 for nonresidents.
