Cross Timbers Lifestyle Editorial Coordinator Stephanie Hasbrouck Shares Books that Strengthen Her Resolve

1. Daring Greatly: How the Courage to Be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent and Lead by Brené Brown

I have savored every dog-eared, highlighter-coated page of this beautiful book that teaches vulnerability is a superpower, not a weakness. This book will help inspire the way one leads, parents and approaches the day-to-day.

2. Homebody: A Guide to Creating Spaces You Never Want to Leave by Joanna Gaines

This lovely book is a guide filled with practical advice and beautiful photographs of the Gaines’ home and other homes Joanna has designed. Though the photographs are stunning, the book offers realistic recommendations for creating a beautiful home to enjoy, not a showpiece.

3. The Whole 30: The 30-Day Guide to Total Health and Food Freedom by Melissa Hartwig and Dallas Hartwig

This book has changed my life and my relationship with food. At this moment, I am embarking on a January Whole 30, and I, once again, will reach for this book to power me through.

4. Danielle Walker’s Against All Grain Celebrations: A Year of Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free and Paleo Recipes for Every Occasion by Danielle Walker

I always have loved to cook, and this beautiful book has helped me enjoy cooking again despite having dietary restrictions. The recipes are delicious, decadent and healthy.

5. For the Love: Fighting for Grace in a World of Impossible Standards by Jen Hatmaker

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this book. It makes me cry and laugh and feel understood. What can I say? Jen Hatmaker just gets me. For the love, just read it.
