Laura Christian, Owner of Laura Design & Co., Creates the Perfect Gift for Guests
Make your houseguests feel extra special and welcomed this spring by creating the perfect, pampering guest retreat. Laura Christian, owner of Laura Design & Co., offers some helpful tips to make guests feel right at home.
“Guest rooms are meant to be welcoming and should feel like mini-retreats,” Laura says. “Think of when you stay at a fancy hotel … all those little details that make you feel special make such a big difference in the overall aesthetic of the room. I can remember one hotel off the coast of California that put chocolate chip cookies and sparkling apple cider in our room each afternoon. It has been years since we stayed there, but I still remember that hotel.”
Laura suggests creating a welcome basket for houseguests to make them feel pampered.
“You really want your guests to feel welcome and special and have them enjoy their stay in your home. Something as small as including fresh flowers just adds that personal touch to help your guest feel cared for,” she says. “Plus, you never know if a guest has forgotten a necessary item. Overall, a guest gift basket is a great way to create a memorable visit for your guests.”
1. The Basket
“First of all, you must start with a beautiful basket. I tend to gravitate toward the lighter color tones. I like to put the larger items toward the back and build forward from there.”
“I absolutely love an apothecary-type glass bottle with a vintage feel. These are from Aesop.”
3. Rolled Towels
“Always white … gives that luxury feel.”
4. Bath Salts, Facial Mask and Hydrating Facial Mist from Herbivore
“Using items like these really give that spa-type aesthetic.”
“The toothbrushes are bamboo and eco-friendly! I love anything with wood tones, and toothbrushes are no exception.”
6. Glass Jar with Q-tips and Cotton Balls
“Placing them in a beautiful jar will take these simple items to the next level.”
7. Soap Bars
“These I found from the Ugly Soap Company locally made right here in Flower Mound! The names of the scents are Fainting Goat and Pink Panther, and they smell fantastic!”
8. Hand Lotion
“World Market is one of my go-to stores and always has some great lotion options.”
9. Fresh Flowers
“I always say flowers or greenery add so much to any space.”
10. Homemade Chocolate Chip Cookies
“This may be the favorite personal touch of the whole basket. I cannot think of a single person who does not like chocolate chip cookies, and I would put money down that your guests will love them too!”
