Flower Mound’s Fourth of July Celebration Will Be Bigger and Better than Ever
For as long as residents can remember, Flower Mound has been celebrating the Fourth of July. What began as a small community celebration has evolved into the incomparable Independence Fest, where thousands of residents gather for a day filled with family fun. This year, the ever-growing festival will feature legendary rocker Bret Michaels.
“We’re thrilled to have the legendary Bret Michaels with us, as part of his Unbroken World Tour, as our headliner. We’ll also have Le Freak, known as ‘The Greatest Disco Band in the World,’ back by popular demand and will perform for the fourth consecutive year. In addition, we’ll welcome back crowd favorite, award-winning country band Breaking Southwest,” says Molly Fox, director of communications for the Town of Flower Mound.
Music is just one aspect of the fun, day-long event.
“As always, there will be a vintage car show; a showcase of our local businesses, food and drinks for the whole family; and a completely free Kid’s Zone presented by CoServ, complete with bounce houses, rock climbing and more,” she says.
“Of course, we kick off the day with our annual Children’s Parade, which starts in the morning at the corner of Eaton and Timber Creek Road. It is always great to see all the families in the parade with decorated bikes, wagons, strollers and more.”
Flower Mound’s Independence Fest is like no other Fourth of July celebration, Molly says.
“There are not too many communities where you can get an entire day’s worth of entertainment for free, including parking and shuttles, on July Fourth. We always aim to organize an amazing day for our residents, topped off with a first-class fireworks show presented by Debra Duffy DDS.
As part of his Unbroken World Tour, Bret Michaels will headline Independence Fest 2019. Bret is a multi-platinum singer/songwriter known for hits such as “Every Rose Has Its Thorn,” “Nothin’ But A Good Time” and “Something to Believe In.” He rose to fame as the front man for the iconic band Poison.
For the fourth consecutive year, Le Freak will bring its high-energy, unique talent to Independence Fest. Dubbed as “The Greatest Disco Band in the World,” the band is sure to get the crowd dancing.
Kent Bell, Kyle Gaston and Lauren Hall—otherwise known as the trio Breaking—will return to their Texas roots as they perform at Independence Fest. The trio delivers a powerful show comprising covers and original songs.
The annual Children’s Parade will kick off Independence Fest at 10 a.m. July 4. Community members are invited to decorate bikes, trikes, wagons and strollers and walk the short route to the LISD Administration Building, where free hot dogs and drinks will be available, as well as children’s activities and live entertainment at the free Kid’s Zone presented by CoServ. Parade lineup begins at 9:30 a.m. at the corner of Eaton and Timber Creek Road.
