MSU – Texas Flower Mound Celebrates One Year

MSU – Texas Flower Mound is coming up on its first year of being open. Currently, there are 250 students enrolled, and projections look to a fall enrollment of approximately 300 students. Bachelor’s and master’s degrees are offered in areas such as nursing, education, human resources, sports administration, special education and more. Classes are offered online or blended formats—perfect for the working adult! For more information, visit MSUTexas.edu/flowermound.

Flower Mound Named Safest City in Texas

Flower Mound has been named the No. 1 safest city in Texas according to a study by SafeHome, a research organization that evaluates home security products and services. Researchers ranked the 65 safest Texas communities with populations of at least 50,000 using the latest FBI crime data, population and citizen-to-officer ratios. LISD Appoints Three New Principals

 Lewisville ISD recently announced the appointments of three new principals for the 2019-2020 school year: Kyndra Tyler, Lewisville High School Killough; Vanesa Asbun, Lakeland Elementary; and Virginia Gwyn, Lillie J. Jackson Early Childhood Center. The three candidates were approved at the April 15 Board of Trustees meeting. 

“These educators will be tremendous assets to their respective campuses,” LISD Superintendent Dr. Kevin Rogers said. “I am confident students and staff will continue to thrive under the leadership of these new principals.”

Happy Birthday, CAC!

Join the town of Flower Mound Parks and Recreation Division to celebrate the CAC’s 11th birthday from 7 a.m.–7 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at the CAC. The event will include snacks, special prizes, giveaways and much more. Members may also bring a friend for free all day to enjoy the celebration. No registration is required.

LISD Named Best Community for Music Education

For the 15th time,  Lewisville ISD has received a “Best Communities for Music Education” designation from the National Association of  Music Merchants Foundation.

“LISD is fortunate to employ a dedicated team of outstanding music educators. All LISD Fine Arts programs provide invaluable learning opportunities and help enhance and enrich the LISD student experience,” LISD Director of Fine Arts Amanda Drinkwater said.

LISD joins 623 school districts across the country—68 in Texas—in earning the national award. This designation, awarded by the NAMM Foundation, is given to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in efforts to provide music education to all students.

Rent a Park Pavilion for Your Next Event

Rent one of Flower Mound’s beautiful park pavilions for your next party or event. The Parks and Recreation Division maintains several pavilions throughout the town including the newest pavilion at The Heritage Park of Flower Mound, adjacent to the Fort Wildflower community-built playground. Park facility reservations can be scheduled up to six months in advance. Reservations must be made in person at the CAC during regular business hours (Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m.).
