Celebrate Marcus! Event is a Success
Marcus High School recently held its second annual Celebrate Marcus! event. At the event, students had the opportunity to showcase the many different cultures that make up the diverse student body.
LISD Recognized for Energy Management
The Association of Energy Engineers recently awarded Lewisville ISD with the 2019 Institutional Energy Management honor. Lewisville ISD has reduced its energy use by 22% since 2008. The school system’s energy conservation efforts have saved the district more than $20 million.
Local Neighborhoods Recognized As National Night Out Winners
Congratulations to the following communities that were recognized as National Night Out award winners at the Nov. 4 Flower Mound Town Council meeting:
▪ Lakeside – Large HOA National Night Out Neighborhood of the Year
▪ Lakemont – Small HOA National Night Out Neighborhood of the Year
▪ Westchester Hillshire Court – Private Party National Night Out Winner
National Night Out (NNO) encourages residents to get to know their neighbors and create a united front against crime. On NNO, neighborhoods throughout Flower Mound hosted registered block parties and were visited by judges, who evaluated parties based on participation, activities, theme, spirit and originality.
City Names Bridge in Honor of Late Local Veteran
The City of Highland Village has approved naming the new Doubletree Ranch Park Pedestrian Bridge in honor of Highland Village resident PFC Aaron M. Hudson, who was killed in action on April 16, 2005, while serving his country in Iraq. More details and opportunities to contribute can be found on the Friends of PFC Aaron Hudson Facebook page.
Flower Mound Public Library Remodels Children’s Section
It’s out with the old, and in with the new at the Flower Mound Public Library’s children’s area. The library is redoing the long-loved portion of the library, which is expected to be completed this spring. In the meantime, library staff members are happy to help patrons find books on their temporary shelves.
FMHS Participates in AP Photography Pop-Up Show
AP Photography students recently represented Flower Mound High School in the annual Pop-Up Show in the lobby of the MCL Grand Theater in downtown Lewisville. Several of the symphony patrons engaged in conversation with the budding photographers and admired their work.
Medical City Children’s Urgent Care Holds Ribbon Cutting
The Lewisville Area Chamber of Commerce and Medical City Lewisville recently helped celebrate the renovated Flower Mound Children’s Urgent Care clinic with a ribbon cutting. Medical City Children’s Urgent Care is designed exclusively to meet the needs of children. From clinic design to specifically pediatric-trained staff, the facility is 100% child focused and offers extended hours for convenience.
Primrose School of NE Flower Mound and Primrose School of Old Orchard families blessed hundreds of single parent households over Thanksgiving. Families at both schools donated nearly 1500 food items to support Single Parent Advocate, a non-profit organization committed to educating, equipping, and empowering single parents with resources, practical assistance and emotional encouragement to better their lives, and those of their children. As part of Primrose’s Caring and Giving program, Primrose’s annual Can-A-Thon event helps students understand the value of generosity and giving without expecting something in return.
